Camooweal - gravel pit
> We all woke up late (except camp rooster Karl) the days are longer up here and the sun rose later. Got out the shorts and t-shirts for first time! Glad we're not home as I believe it's freezing.
>
> Left camp ground on the Georgina river just outside Camooweal at about 10.30. Our campers were covered in a really heavy dew.
>
> Drove to Barkly Homestead and made our lunch. Fuel $1.78/ltr so we filled up with our own fuel. Yogi discovered one of our batteries in camper was shaking loose so they did some macgyver work on it.
>
> Travelled over Barkly Tableland and there is absolutely NOTHING to see. So a day of reading and playing games on iPad.
>
> Stopped briefly at the Three Ways for a pee stop and ran into a couple who were off to Alice Springs to hosts indigenous camps for Indigenous boarding school kids. After I got in the car, I was telling yoges and turned out he went to school with the bloke. His name was Waverley Stanley. He was disappointed he didn't realise it was him at the time. We then gunned it to Elliott and have stopped for the night at a gravel pit. Great overnighter spot, flat and private and a bit off the road. Only down side is - twigs for a campfire 😥
