Day 6
We left Moreton Telegraph station at 9 and headed to Bramwell Roadhouse. We fuelled up and let the air out of our tyres to start the Ild Telegraph Track (OTT). One way traffic only! Although there were a couple who got as far as the first crossing at Palm Crk and thought 'stuff this' and turned around and went back.
We all got out of the cars (as well as many others waiting to see 'who goes first') the first crossing, we all decided was too steep and muddy - knee deep. So we walked up on the right hand side of this crossing and found another one. There were a few people waiting there also. This was the crossing we decided on.
One fella drove across and instructed karl across on a hand held two-way. Greg was the second of our crew to go across and by the time we went across it was getting fairly chopped up as one guy didn't have his hubs locked in and was spinning.
It was great as there were many onlookers and many people helping others. One guy in his Prado and Kimberley camper was not a happy camper as he'd dinged it, plus had done damage under it.
We dinted the gas bottle box holder and scratched the side of our camper. Our running board also has been bent a little bit.
The second creek crossing was nearly as hairy, but not quite. That's where our running board got bent a little.
We drove on and have camped on the Delhunty River. Bit cold for me, but the others all had a swim and a wash. Have had steak and salad for tea and are now sitting round the camp fire which Donna and Claire lit! Up and going by 9 again tomorrow and hope to camp at Sams ck.
Our camper is still not charging as we drive along. So genny out again.
