Alice springs to The Plenty
We arrived in Alice Springs on Sunday afternoon I'd booked into the Bug 4 Caravan Park so we were lucky to get a site. We all had a beautiful long shower and washed off the Tanami off our bodies and out of our hair. The red dust is EVERYWHERE!
We set up Toms laptop, portable speaker and my internet stick and watched the Cook Twins on the grand final of House Rules. It was very cold in Alice and we brought out our water bottles after 2 weeks of beautiful weather. So a bit of a shock to the system.
We have a couple who have joined us on our trip as they're travelling companions lost their kitchen on the road coming out of The Bungle Bungles and they didn't want to travel on The Plenty. So we took in our 'strays' and have decided to keep them. Tony and Diane are from the Gold Coast and are going to travel with us all the way home and spend their last night at Karl and Donnas at Jimbour Station.
We all had to have tyres replaced/repaired and get some groceries. Yoges also got some new bolts for our suspension in the camper as the factory bolts had sheared off! It's a running joke to see what next can go wrong!
The only trouble Karl and Donna have had is that a wind gust grabbed their awning at Wolfe Creek and snapped it at the join, as it wasn't pegged down. Tony and Diane have a camper similar to ours only a different brand and they are having issues as well. So it pays to buy a dearer camper. You get what you pay for! They've had no dust what do Dover whereas our kitchen is covered and a bit sneaking into the camper as well. I wrap my cutlery tray every day in glad wrap which saves us from washing the whole lot ea time we pull up AND from pulling out the drawers and looking for cutlery which has jumped around and out of the drawers.
The Plenty has actually been a great road. Not too bad at all.
We've pulled up on a dry creek bed for the night and have a lovely fire. We've got spuds and corn wrapped up in Alfoil and are having snags with them. It actually warmer here tonight as we are above the tropic Of Capricorn again. We hope to reach Birdsville on Wednesday.
