Day 7 Tomato Island to Mattaranka

The boys tried their luck in the Roper River this morning with their lines - no luck. Yoges was talking to a lady who has been there for three months. A friend of hers was in a boat and caught a stingray. They got it to the boat when their rod broke trying to get him in. The stingray got away and was flapping around when two crocs came up either side of stingray. Stingray won and got away!!!! How's that for an exciting fishing trip.

We have gone for a drive via Roper Bar to have a look. Stopped at shop/roadhouse to discover very flat tyre on camper. Our Bearings also needed doing and so did Taylor's. Karl did one of his tyres while gear was out.
We've then gone for a stroll through the Roper Bar. Beautiful scenery, just want to jump in. Too much wildlife for our liking.

Just left the beautiful Adels grove, where co-indecently we had a drink with Pete Frith and Roger and Di Lyne. Jan was cooking their tea. Drove on the Savannah Way to Doomagee and did a drive through and we are now on our way to Hells Gate. Meaghans birthday today and she's ordered pizza , yogis syrup dumplings with cream n custard! Not bad for a bush camp feed. I've bought a packet choc cake and directions say mix on low for 3 mins then on high. I figure, I'll be low speed and Jodie can be high speed!!!!!! Hahaha.

Day 10

Today the we split from the group and head into Darwin a day earlier than everyone. Catch up with my brother and his family. The camp we are in now is gorgeous. Green grass! Brad is in heaven. We all are. Red dirt is overrated we've decided. I took this photo from bed. What a view!

Long Paddock

God knows how long these people have been on the road for. Or where they've come from. Beet wren Amby and Mitchell these cattle were feeding on side of road. In times of drought, when there is no feed on their properties, they pack up and walk them on the stock routes for feed (called the Long Paddock). Sometimes they can be on the road for months, if not a year or more. These cattle don't look too bad, so it's obviously paying off for them. One cheeky buggar, stopped and thought about taking us on.
